In Huntress, the first book, we’re introduced to Audrey, Logan, and the cast of characters that make the Life After Death series so lovable. We knew Audrey and Logan’s relationship was complicated when we last left them, and in Warfare it just gets better. Julie Hall has a way of pulling readers in with a unique style of writing, humor, symbolism and deep truths all threaded together that leaves you wanting to read more. Believe me when I say by the time I was done with Warfare I immediately ordered Dominion, the next book, but then realized I couldn’t wait that long for it to come in the mail. Thankfully, my friend had already bought and read the trilogy and I was able to borrow her copy of Dominion almost immediately, which I even now read while I write this - and this will be another 5 star review entirely.
Warfare is a must read.

What a continuation. The characters grow so much in this novel. I find myself loving them more than ever.

It is again a highly religious novel. It is deeply rooted in the Christian faith, but I love it despite that. The personification of God is so human that it makes ever a non believer like me have faith. Which is a testament to the author.

I was left with a cliffhangar though!!

I always struggle to get into these but I really ended up enjoying it. I wish Audry wasn't so negative and I wish the Christian themes were more subtle. The world building and writing are fantastic, the characters are wonderful. I've found myself very invested in this story and I'm excited for the next one. Logan kind of carried this book, especially with his actions on earth.

I get very tired of the YA trope where the main character has to act really stupid in order for the plot to work. The only reason I didn't downgrade the book to three stars because of the annoying stupidity is that it was eventually overshadowed by the truly awesome visuals of spiritual warfare playing out.
