Dr. Abbey and her pets

I’m loving the side stories. This one had several characters I’m fond of. Plus an octopus.

Oh so worth the price of admission. No less than 5 stars. I picture Dr. Abbey as looking just like the author.

And so ends the last story in the world of the zombie rising. Not with a boom or a bang but with a smile.

hooray! a crappy day with a new mira grant novella is suddenly a much less crappy day. do i have a lot to say about this novella? not really - like i said, it's a crappy day and my words are short. is it fab and does it feature some excellent lab animals and fascinating humans? totally. do i wish it were a full length novel? TOTALLY. do i want to taunt the octopus? NO! dr. abbey asked so Nicely...

Beautiful addition to the Newsflesh Universe. Dr. Abbey is one of my favorite characters from the trilogy, and it was nice to see what she'd been up to since the series ended.

A mysterious girl turns up at Dr Abbey's complex, crazy, half starved and looking for pills. It's a sign of the strength of the characters and world building that I remembered and guessed who she was almost immediately, heartbreaking and pulling together this batch of novellas together so well. Stayed up til 2am to finish it and just wanted more.

I love the newsflesh trilogy, and the novellas are such great snippets of the secondary characters' lives. Do Not Taunt the Octopus was a continuation of Dr Abbey's story, what happened to her and her lab after the Masons. I liked it, I liked the allusions to the rest of the series. There are a lot of spoilers, so reading it before having read every other work in the series isn't the best idea.
Overall this was a really good read.

I haven’t read Blackout in a while, but between its preceding novella and this one, a certain character throws off Harley Quinn vibes…at least in origin and lethality.
