Eventually seeing the trees but for the forest; we go through life making our choices and those choices do effect the people around us.
This was my second attempt at this book, and I still couldn’t finish it. It’s not for me. The writing style is not appealing to me, and the narrative is not compelling.

4.5
Without a doubt, the beauty of this book is in the simplicity of the details.
Beautifully written, nothing great, just the complexity of life that we sometimes take for granted.
In parts it is very moving.
The narrator is excellent.

I started reading Light Perpetual in an attempt to read all 2021 Booker Prize longlisted novels. While I really liked the concept of telling several alternative life stories, it was definitely an effort to finish the novel (perhaps because of the large time jumps and large number of main characters?). I found it somewhat diffcult to connect with the main characters at all times, and I would have liked to see the seperate stories somewhat more intergrated and intertwined, and more connected to the initial premise and starting point of the book. The writing itself is quite beautiful though, the first chapter definitely drew me in. This book does make you think, so in the end I would recommend reading it.
