Clue meets Crimson Peak only a lot messier.
I love a good whodunnit with a gothic horror esque so I was excited to read this. Honestly I loved it right up until the ending. I like a good twist as much as the next person but geez can we calm down a little bit?
Spoilers:
The true identity reveal was great but I found myself having to go back to re-read certain passages to understand who certain things actually happened to and it still had some plot holes.
Also did anyone have common sense or critical thinking skills in this? The fact that “Virginia” could still talk and move around was something we could see from a mile away but was still annoying because who the fuck let’s someone literally wipe their ass for 53 years just to punish their sibling? Weird behavior.
I also thought we would get more of a closing with Detective Vick and we just dropped that whole cat and mouse game at the very end. The dad being Virginia’s baby daddy felt like a cop out just to push out one more twist that no one needed.
It was a fun read but I’m going to need these thriller genre writers to clean it up.
