I'm going to chalk this one up to...I'm not the target audience for this one and leave it at that.

Our Infinite Fates is beautiful, haunting and epic. It is only YA because of the mortal age of the main characters, but the story truly appeals to readers all ages. I especially recommend it highly to anyone who loved The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. Perhaps I loved this even more.

**The book covers a true historical timeline with every triggering societal issue you can imagine when it comes to non-cis love. It also has death, forced institutionalism, torture, cancer, attempted suicide/suicide idealism, kidnapping, loss of a loved one, and many more.

**This is on the spicy side when it comes to YA standards. The author notes on social media that while the bodies in the story are 17, the souls are over 1,000 years old.

I have to reiterate that this is a young adult book. The main characters are 17, about to turn 18 in every timeline. Within that context you see this story through the POV of Evelyn, and I think that is intended because they know less of their own back story than Arden. This does not feature the POV of Arden who struggles with knowing their 1,000 year timeline. This keeps the plot from being even darker and deeper than its intended audience.

“I love you, I have loved you, and I will love you”

Was this book perfect? No, not by a long shot. The characters, while rich and complex, felt as though there was a lot left unexplored. Their depth was there, but I couldn’t help but wish for more. Still, despite these gaps, it drew me in, and I was hooked.

One of the most powerful themes woven through the narrative is the idea of love transcending physical form—the idea that love is not confined to one body or one lifetime. It’s a notion that feels both timeless and profoundly moving. The thought of being able to recognize your soulmate, even in a completely different vessel, is pure, unadulterated romance to me. It resonates on a deep emotional level, tapping into that universal longing we all have for a love that outlasts time and space. That’s what made this plot so refreshing. It felt like a new perspective on an age-old concept, something I hadn’t seen explored in quite the same way before.

What struck me most was the sheer poetry of it all. And I don’t mean just in the literal sense, though the inclusion of poetry added a beautiful layer to the narrative. But beyond that, the writing itself exuded a kind of lyrical quality, almost like a rhythm that captured the aching, unfulfilled desire between the characters. Their tragic romance, filled with longing, loss, and the hope (and trepidation) of reunion, was so tangible. Every chapter that revisited their backstory was bittersweet. That longing made the entire journey feel profound and deeply emotional.

Thank you NetGalley and Wednesday Books for the eARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

What an incredibly beautiful story! I was swept along on the tides of this cursed romance in the best possible way. If you've been searching for a feeling like Addie Larue, look no further, this book has the same longing, the same treks through history, but in a unique and heartbreaking way that give you the vibes of Addie Larue without feeling like a copy in any way.

Throughout the story, you receive subtle hints at the truth of the bargain made and forgotten, and Evelyn's longing to know and remember really drives this story. Arden is infuriatingly stoic and reserved, but his deep passion and care come across on every page. I nearly dropped my kindle as the pieces came together and the truth of their history was revealed (and then nearly dropped it again when additional information was given a few chapters later) I highly recommend this for any fans of romantasy. Warning though, I would rate this as upper YA/NA, the content is a bit mature for the younger end of YA audiences and it is written in more of an adult style despite the age of the characters.

Thank you to Netgalley and Wednesday Books for my eARC to review.

This book is a dark YA fantasy romance where a pair of lovers find each other across lifetimes.  It is a story of reincarnation, love, hate, and murder.  They die together before their 18th birthdays in every life.

Getting to know the characters is a slow burn across lifetimes, historical ages, genders, and cultures.  There is good LGBTQ+ representation as they are often born into bodies of the same gender.  The reason why they are trapped in the cycle eludes our protagonist, whose memory only reaches back a few lifetimes.  Their lover knows more, but won’t reveal the secrets.   The protagonist also has something more to live for in the current, present day life, which also drives the story.

I gave this book four rather than five stars for a couple of rather abrupt plot points.  The first is the reveal of the reason why the couple is trapped in this cycle; there were no real clues along the way and it occurred in the space of one conversation.  The second was the resolution of the situation which again was quick, not foreshadowed, and somewhat convenient.  I did think the strengths of the book outweighed its weaknesses.  I enjoyed this book and recommend to readers who like a slow burn YA romance.

Trigger warnings for murder, torture, grief and loss, and illness.  There is also one intimate scene.

"and there, in a grave colder than Mars, next to the soul I'd loved for a hundred lives and lost in every one, we took our final breath beneath indifferent stars."

Well, I finished it one day.. so that's saying a lot!

This really did feel like "what if Addie LaRue loved Luc".. in the best sort of way.

Seeing them overcome everything, time and time again, to find each other was heartbreaking. With each life you get a better glimpse of their story, and the depth of time they are dealing with.

"Bravery is picking up the fear and carrying it alongside you, rather than allowing it to block the path."

Around 55% of the way through I felt it was getting a bit repetitive, but it picked up again around 75%.. then it was a speed run to the end.

So, the only thing I wish was different was if we skipped some of that section, and spent more time on the ending.

Overall, their relationship is great and Evelyn's relationships with her family members are beautiful too.

This one will probably stick with me.

I went into this only really knowing the premise on the cover, “They’ve loved each other in a thousand lifetimes, they’ve killed each other in every one.” And that’s all you really need to know.

Arden and Evelyn’s love literally transcends time and appearance. Actual soulmates. They are the definition of to be loved by a poet. Probably the most beautiful prose I’ve ever read, with amazing metaphors and similes.

I’m so happy I got to read this early. Ever since reading The Seven Deaths of the Saint, Addie LaRue, watching Death’s Game and See You in My 19th Life, I’ve been waiting for something that combines all of those elements, and this does it perfectly. I basically wanted to write this book and Lauren did it first. The whole time, front to back, I was like this is awesome. The last act really solidified the 5 star. I seriously believe this could become the next big thing.

Thank you to the publishers and author!
