This was a great story between star-crossed lovers. I like how the ending tied together everything on why things happened the way it did and led to a oath of happiness.

Two souls fated to meet in every life but cursed with having to kill each other when they turn 18. Over time we got to meet so many different versions of them. We also slowly peel back the layers of this curse.
We got to experience life all over the world as different people with different cultures. Being able to reincarnate through these pages was so fun for me.

Lovely adventure through time, I liked the romance and the twisty dark ending. 4.5 stars

I read this book (basically) one sitting and was fully enthralled by the concept. It was a really easy read and I loved jumping between different time periods. Made it hard to put down. I loved all the different lives, cultures, and genders, they lived through. Some of the poems were very sweet and I loved the what they said about each other (the reasons why they loved the other). I also loved that they

started their cycle gay and ended gay that made my little queer heart happy.

Things that fell flat for me:
Their dynamic, as much as I loved what they said about each other I didn’t really understand why. They got so little time with each other in each life it was hard to believe why they would go through this cycle life after life.
The ending, god the ending ruined it for me. Even though it’s a fantasy there was not enough lore build up to drop that twist at the end. It felt like a completely different book.

The concept of falling in love with the devil is so good and I even like the idea that the devil doesn’t know they’re a devil but it just wasn’t executed correctly for me. I also didn’t like that the “first life” was erased from both their memories?? So Evelyn really isn’t a devil but she believes it and so does the love of her life for hundreds of years? Hate that. Why add that. Just let them be a devil. Only thing I liked was that it meant they started as lesbians.

Also little thing that bothered me was

the sex. Or lack thereof. Now I don’t need to read the sex scenes (in fact I wouldn’t want to), but the fact that they waited thousands of years??? What do you mean? Especially when they had the conversation about having sex for money. So you’re telling me you’ll sleep with other people, but not the love of your life across lifetimes?? Literally get out of here.

Would I recommend this book? Sure. It’s a quick enough read that I don’t think time was wasted and I did actually enjoy reading it for the most part. Am I going to re-read it ever? Probably not.
