A study of goshawks, a biography of T.H. White, a study of grief, and a memoir of Helen Macdonald all wrapped up in one book. I listened to the audio book, which is narrated by the author, and it was charming, and well written. My favorite parts were when she described Mabel the hawk's behaviors and personality. :)

Beautifully written, and a mix of hawk training, grief, and a biography of T. H. White. It was quite introspective at times, and I found it hard to push through that, but uplifting all the same.

Seems some stretching was required to connect these thoughts. I felt the burn. The falconry bits were engaging. It's good. It's not all I thought it was going to be, based on reviews.

Once I "got" the problem, absolutely loved this book.

This book was hard to get into initially, but once I was in it I was invested and mesmerised. I only took a star off for  the slow start

An informative and introspective book that is very well written.

My favorite quote : "There is a time in life when you expect the world to be always full of new things. And then comes the day when you realize that is not how it will be at all. You see that life will become a thing of holes. Absences. Losses. Things that were there are no longer. And you realize, too, that you have to grow around and between the gaps, though you can put your hand out to where and feel that tense, shining dullness of the space where the memories are."

Beautiful, sad, thoughtful...I enjoyed this one.
