Loved this. Dark fantasy, strong female protagonist. Just enough romance to add a touch of spice but the focus was on plot, development, and BADASS FEMALE FRIENDSHIP. I cried at one point. So good. The end got a little confusing but beyond that no notes.
I like it. The book is pretty much exactly what it promises to be if you read the back. An easy to read high fantasy with threads of love, magic, and pain. It feels familiar without giving away the ending, but I felt like some parts maybe could have been afforded a bit more back story.
The beginning of the story was fantasy with not much harm and I was beginning to enjoy it then things got scary and creepy all the sudden with the Woods. The middle of the story I didn’t enjoy much especially the capital and all politics. The way it became clearer and clearer with the Woods revealing its traps was really gave me a chill. I really like that the wood queen is not the cause of the bad but there’s the story behind it.
Bring on the flames, fellow reviewers. I just didn't like it much.

Additionally, this is the worst audio book I've ever listened to. I decided to push through, but no amount of speeding up the reading made it easier to finish. Awkward and disjointed the entire time. Honestly, it was like listening to a woman doing an impression of William Shatner with a Russian accent.
