It didn’t grab me

This was a very well written fairy tale/fantasy novel. It reminded me of Jane Yolen's early novels, which I ate up as a teenager. This one had beautiful turns of phrases within a story that was fully fleshed with characters I liked or believed. I never knew where the story was going (the best feeling, to be brought along for the journey, as opposed to knowing the path) and I read it fervently.

I think this book won some awards, and they are well deserved. It is one of the best "pure" fantasy novels I've read in a long while.

A new fave
I’m not immune to a man begrudgingly falling for a mess of a woman

Then also make her a witch??

Made for me

My one major gripe is it does suck that the only black character was given slave backstory. Literally any other backstory.
