I was simply unable to get interested in this book. Read about half of it, but it requires an ability to suspend reality which is beyond my reach. Others may find it very enjoyable.

I had been looking forward to reading this book due to the combination of the cover art and the synopsis firing up my imagination, and to a reasonable extent it lived up to what I expected.

The story could be described as Indiana Jones meets Clash of the Titans, sprinkled with a bit of Doctor Who. There are two main characters who we follow, one being an archaeologist, while the other seems to be the embodiment of all the action figures played by Arnold Schwarzenegger but wrapped up in the persona of Crocodile Dundee.

It's a very entertaining fast-paced read, as the characters escape from one life-threatening predicament, only to land in yet another, as they encounter beings from Greek mythology and travel between the realms of Hades, Tartarus and Olympus.

It's a fun book, that would probably make an excellent action movie with its numerous mythological figures and action pieces, and as such there are a few times that the internal logic of the story becomes torturously strained, at which point it's best just to stop thinking and enjoy the ride.

An enjoyable read combining Greek mythology, sci-fi and, what I thought, a very good story. I can't wait to read the sequel!

We need a category like "Tried to Read" or something along those lines. I gave this book an honest to goodness shot and maybe it was me, maybe it was the book, maybe how it was written, the very far-fetched plot...I don't know. I tried...several times I have tried...but could never get very far. I haven't deleted it completely from my kindle, but have so many other books on there that I doubt I will bother with this. I just could not get into this book. And it is rare that I don't finish a book.

A very entertaining book, with an original pretext. I really enjoy the idea of playing around with mythological cretures. The story is fast paced, although the first part is quite redundant (beeing attacked - flee - repeat).
The character of Wes is very bad ass and fun. He remind me a bit of the main dude in The Dark Path.

Fortunately, I have the second book of the series.

This was a fun free book. It's pretty derivative from other books in the genre. Think Percy Jackson with adults and a foul mouthed time travelling Aussie. But still interesting enough to make me continue to read it.

A fun and engrossing read. At times I found it hard to put the book down. The story: portal opened in modern times to "Hades" and "Tartarus", from which (very) powerful creatures of Greek legend emerge. To save the day, and prevent the world and universe from collapsing, a history prof and an ozzie sas guy travel the dimensions, battle monsters and evil, avoid tricks and deceit, and just about, mostly, save the day. Though the ending is a tad abrupt.

If I had one fault to list, it would be the battle scenes. Growing old now I tire easily of mass mayhem and slaughter, no matter how righteous the cause.
