Thank you Beth Kendrick for bringing your readers back to Black Dog Bay. I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of these novels, and loved Once Upon A Wine!

I think this could be read as a stand alone book, but there are many characters that pop in, so it may help to read the first three in the series.

I loved all the characters in this book - Cammie and Ian's chemistry can be felt off the pages, while Kat's mid-life crisis (in the early 30's), can also be felt. Kat and Scott's issues brought some real life drama to this happy go lucky novel.

Now that Cammie is firmly grounded in Black Dog Bay, I'm hoping she and Ian pop back into the next novel (here's hoping there will be a Black Dog Bay #5).

Definitely recommend to any chick-lit readers, and everyone who wants to return to Black Dog Bay!

I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE BLACK DOG BAY. If you're into companion series with strong heroines, excellent romance, and the cuuuutest seaside town in existence, please read this series. The overall message from all four books was about ~finding yourself~ but I assure you it was done in a very NOT cheesy way. That message/learning experience for each girl definitely overshadowed romance in some cases (which I didn't mind). Also, I'm a huge fan of Amy Rubinate, the audio narrator, which made this even better and easier to binge like crazy.

As for this book itself - my second favorite. 4.5 stars. I loved each of the main ladies and their journeys on their new winery. The second-chance romance was pretty excellent, even if it wasn't necessarily at the forefront of the story. I enjoyed the cameos by alllll of the other heroines in the series, but definitely wish there were more (since it's the final story). I also have to note that the incorrect skateboarding jargon made me laugh, cringe, and sometimes rage. No skateboarder calls themselves a "boarder" (ever)... on top of maaaany other incorrect things.

This book was exactly what I needed this week. I loved everything about it – the setting, the relationships between the characters, the humor. It wasn’t just a romance, it was a story about the importance of family and of self discovery. The family bond that Cammie, Kat, and Ginger had was so solid and heartwarming. I adored Ian and the zero angst romance between him and Cammie. I loved the witty banter, and although it’s a predictable story, it was such a delight to read. Plus, it’s about wine, so how could I not love it?!

*** I received an e-copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest review

This latest book in the Black Dog Bay series was about Ginger, her daughter Kat and her niece Cammie. Ginger, after a big cancer scare, decides to live her dreams and buys a vineyard, and she gets the girls to help her. Kat was a professional skateboarder who had to retire because of back injuries. Cammie is a failed restaurant owner turned waitress who is also at a crossroads in her life. Little did they all know that they just needed Lost Dog Vineyards and a retired show dog named Jacques to make everyone's dreams come true. This is a light, enjoyable read with a good mix of humor and romance..... and a little white dog.

I don’t want this to be the last book of the black dog bay series :( This was a great addition to the series. I love how all of the other characters are parts of every story. This town is the absolute best ever. I am really going to miss this series, these characters, and the town.

Love the Black Dog Bay series! Once Upon a Wine was no exception. While there are always new characters and new storylines, we get to revisit old friends that we met in previous books. I loved the twist with Jenna, perhaps she will be the focus of another book in the series? Kat was not a favorite character, but I don't feel like I really got to know her. I wish Black Dog Bay was a real place - breakup or not - it would be a great place to visit!!!

Dollycas’s Thoughts
The cover grabbed my attention and what followed was a delightful summer read.

Cammie used to summer in Black Dog Bay, but when her cousin calls to say she must come there right away she has no idea what she is coming back to. It seems her aunt has bought a winery and because Cammie had a restaurant and could talk a good wine game she thinks Cammie is has the expertise needed to manage a winery. Hard work and determination may help Cammie save her aunt and her cousin from bankruptcy. A certain farmer may just make Cammie glad she returned to take on this enormous task.

I discovered this author and this series last year and I am glad I did. When I need a break from my usual mysteries her books seem to be just what I need. Black Dog Bay is quite a place – “the best place in America to bounce back from your breakup.” With places like Better Off Bed-and-Breakfast, the Eat Your Heart Out bakery, and the Whinery bar, Black Dog Bay offers a haven for the suddenly single. So Cammie has come to the right place. Her cousin Kat is married, but things in her life are far from paradise so maybe this little adventure can put things back on track. Aunt Ginger is recovering from a traumatic event and doesn’t have a man in her life but is open to the idea. And that cute little bulldog on the cover is Jacque, he makes himself right at home with all 3 of them at Lost Dog Vineyard.

This is a funny, lighthearted story about a true family bond. These women are so clearly in over their heads but are determined to make wine without a lot of whining. A few trips to the Whinery bar and some guidance from someone that knows about growing fruits and the weather help get them off to a good start. I admire the courage they had and the way they didn’t give up.

Like any romantic comedy read/movie the ending is predictable but I really enjoyed my escape to Black Dog Bay. The author tells the story in a clever way with a few laugh out loud moments. I was very pleased with the way the theme “bloom where you are planted” ran through the entire story.

This book is part of a series that all take place in the same location but are stand alone stories.

Ginger winked at Cammie. “You can get us a good deal on the strawberries, right?”
“Ian already gave you a great deal,” Cammie said.
“Oh, I’d bet you can get us an even better deal,” Ginger said airily. “With your powers of persuasion? Maybe when he picks you up for that date he asked about?”
…Cammie turned to Kat. “Help me; I’m being pimped out for produce over here.”

Once Upon a Wine had a little bit of something for every reader: It was a reunion story. There was family drama. We saw girl-power galore. We met a sweetheart of a French bulldog. And we of course had a wonderful sense of community as the locals in Black Dog Bay helped out our trio and put their two cents worth in.

I know when I pick up a book by Beth Kendrick that I’ll have fun and I’ll be drawn in by the relationships she’s created. And that was exactly what happened with Once Upon a Wine. I came to love Cammie, Kat and Ginger as if they were my own friends. What a unique and strong bond they had together.

What a fun read!! This is another book set in Black Dog Bay, but it's not necessary that you've read her other books before reading this one (though I definitely recommend her books!) This book was a perfect easy summer read, with delightful characters (especially Jacques, the French Bulldog!), a story that kept you reading, and a little bit of romance thrown in with all that wine! Ian and Cammie were adorable--they allong with Jacques, of course, were my favorite characters. I did also really kike Kat--she had more depth as a character than your typical chick lit romance book.

Though I was pretty sure I knew what was going to happen, I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It made my heart happy, and was the perfect read when I had a busy, stressful week, because it was such a relaxing and fun read. I definitely recommend you add this book to your summer list!
