Brittainy C. Cherry is already a well established author, known for her beautiful prose and out of the box books, but she continues to prove her worth in the writing community with every book she publishes.
The Wreckage of Us follows an unlikely, very likely, pair; Hazel and Ian.
Hazel wants nothing more than to protect her family and get out of the trailer park.
Ian longs to switch his small town life for the glitz and glamour of the rock and roll world.
They shouldn't have happened, the stars were aligned against their love, but if Brittainy knows one thing, then it's that love knows no boundaries.
They both had hard starts into life, but luckily there was one very important person that looked out for them. Big Paw. Lordy, that man completely wrecked me. Fitting, right?
I felt their emotions, starting with despair, loneliness and even a little bit of hate, up until the love and peace both characters deserved so much.
This was a beautiful coming of age/star-crossed lovers story that I will truly keep in my heart for a long time to come.

3.75 stars. KU. Wow. Such a profound love story with heartbreak and angst, sadness and hope. I read this over the course of many weeks, so I think I need to come back and give this novel a re-read. But I loved “The Wreckage of Us.” It put an interesting twist on the typical rockstar romance because the heroine knew the hero before he became famous. Really great story!

Trope: Enemies to lovers, Small town romance, Band/Celebrity

”Sometimes it just takes time to get to the happy lyrics.”
Brittainy Cherry gives us another beautiful standalone with The Wreckage of Us.
This is the story of Hazel Stone and Ian Parker. I wouldn’t say they’re enemies, but Ian sure makes Hazel’s life pretty hellish for the first few chapters. They’re both still reeling from their poor home lives and learning to cope. Their commonalities and connection are electric.
Hazel becomes Ian’s muse for his band, The Wreckage. After they make it big, the story unfolds. Without giving it away, Ian and Hazel are soulmates if I’ve ever read them. Small town live with big time dreams.
Another ace in the hole. Brittainy Cherry brings us tears and laughter on each page. This one is a book to be savored.

Just felt overly angsty and unauthentic - the plot didn't seem to flow, but rather seemed to try and squeeze in as many distressed teenage cliches as possible. I'm still a big Brittainy Cherry fan but this one wasn't for me.
3.75 - 4 Stars
Ian and Hazel.
I don’t know what I was expecting with this one I wasn’t disappointed but I didn’t love it the way I normally do with this author. That is ok its nice to not always know what is coming.
I think Hazel was my favorite character she really surprised me she didn’t complain about the way life was going. She made the most of it even if it was scary. She didn’t want anything handed to her she wanted to make it on her own. She was brave and maybe a little naïve but that is what Big Pa was there for he gave her the strength she didn’t know she needed.
I like Ian but I didn’t really love him. I get why he was angry but he also had his grandfather and grandmother in his corner. I guess I just expected more of him.
The band stuff was interesting if a little predictable.
I really enjoyed the narration, Rock though maybe shouldn’t do the female voice but other than that loved their narration Stella is a favorite of mine.

This book was really good, and I’m glad I took a break from BCC for a while before going back. I’ve read so many of her books they can run together and although this one is really similar to others (especially The Silent Waters) it was different enough for me to enjoy it. I really enjoyed the hate to love and roomie aspects along with the eventual happy ending. I had kind of wished there was a time jump and two parts to it in the same book but she still did a great job!
+ Ian being a complete simp for Hazel
+ Medium paced
+ The grandparents
- Very little plot
- 3rd act breakup because her stepdad didn’t want her to be happy? Meh. Big bad drug dealer stepdad really thought the worst he could do to her is make her break up with her Rockstar boyfriend? Idk

Brittainy C. Cherry is one of my favorite authors. I really enjoy her writing style and how she makes the reader feel connected with the characters. I can’t wait to read her other books that she already had published.
