I enjoyed the exposition style, the with backward reflecting (child?) narrator. The hero and heroine have great chemistry, with their whole enemies-to-lovers trope going on. Though there wasn't a lot of explanation as to how they would have possibly gotten together... (Something saved for a later installment, no doubt.) Above-par artwork, with deft use of vibrancy and theme.

A lot of the concepts felt more like a somewhat derivative urban fantasy mashup rather than a speculative sci-fi. And the sex and violence were a bit overly graphic for my personal tastes.

This was a really great introduction to comics in general. This is the first comic we were required to read for my Graphic Narratives class and it is extremely well done. It felt like I was reading a movie, the way the panels are structured are extremely cinematic, and the story is very much Star Wars-esque. Will definitely try and continue the reading the series.

I don't know a lot about graphic novels, but I picked this one up for free at Google Books and I fully enjoyed it. Now the problem is finding more!

Captivating Idea

I love fantasy. Even more, I love when fantasy is mixed with a modernish flair. Sadly, I don't like Sci Fi like thay. BUT this sci Fi fantasy story was fun. I'm very interested to reading what happens with our protagonist. I wonder if their going to be all they hope they are.

Despite my 3 star review of this graphic novel, I will have to to say that the graphics are absolutley amazing! I usually don't pick up graphic novels simply because I hate the artists style. I certainly cannot say that about Saga. However, I just thought that the story was mediocre and the characters pretty forgettable. I'm just not invested enough to continue the series. I'm disappointed that this graphic novel didn't live up to the hype imo.
