Zeus and Callie have my heart, their story is about going through adversities, coming out of and starting afresh with a new outlook on life.Is about taking control of your life after being in an abusive and manipulating relationships,it’s about second chances and forgiveness. It’s about found family and giving yourself a chance to try new things, like falling in love.I love the story and I’m very happy Zeus and Callie got their happy ending.
Not currently in a place to listen to the trigger warnings.
- Good depth to the characters, interesting level of trauma/backstory without it being too much
- Some story beats are very similar to previous books in the series - getting a bit repetitive
- Confused by how killing one of the dozens of mobsters that were owed money somehow made the rest disappear too...

I love Greek mythology, so of course I was exited about this, even if it was just his nickname. I feel so fucking bad for Callie, no person should ever go through that. Everytime he flinched a piece of my heart broke, but it was repaired by his and Decafs friendship. It was so sweet. The end was so amusing to me. Zeus was so scared he was cheating, and Callie was helping someone else who needed it. I was so happy for Callie and his recovery, he's so fucking strong. I'm so proud, I hope everyone who has gone through the same things can get the right help <3
3.5 stars. This series just may not be for me. I've found that the romance storyline tends to get lost amongst the Rambo action movie moments of the Mike Bravo Ops group. This has been my favorite in the series so far though as Zeus' experience with his sister being a victim of DV gave his character some other attribute outside of being in Mike Bravo

I was wondering if Callie would get a redemption story, and what an emotional journey this turned out to be. Callie was in full-on flight mode at the beginning of the book, scared and fighting for his survival in the only way he knew how. I hated seeing how little trust he had for anyone around him, but after what he'd been through I understood it. I wasn't sure if Zeus could be the kind of man Callie needed, but he had surprising depths that were just waiting for the right person to unlock. Zeus and Callie had chemistry, my god did they have chemistry, but their connection felt special in a way that's hard for me to describe but made perfect sense when I was reading about it. Most of this book was spent dealing with the consequences of Callie's first instinct to run to the scariest person he knew for protection, and I think this might be the most action Mike Bravo Ops has seen all series long. It was kinda terrifying to see how readily these guys ran towards danger to keep their loved ones safe, and since the bad guys weren't pulling their punches it made for some adrenaline-pumping rescues and high stakes planning. I thought the whole storyline was engaging, suspenseful, and heart-pounding, and that made its resolution feel incredibly satisfying. Romance-wise, Callie and Zeus didn't have the most conventional path towards love, but their happy ending felt perfect for who they were as individuals and what they wanted from a relationship. I was pleasantly surprised by how much character growth both Zeus and Callie had along the way, and I can confidently say that the two of them are ready for whatever life throws at them next.
