3.5 stars? I have such a weird relationship with these books. I don't love reading them - they're ok, but never amazing to me - but also I want everyone's damn story (even knowing I'll be left wanting). The Mike Bravo guys (and Angel <3) are so damn great and I love them. Iris is forever my fave though.

I actually liked the character and their growth here. Zeus' realisation that he has to grow out of his playboy act to avoid responsibility if he wants other people to stop seeing him as nothing but a pretty face. Callie deals with the traumatising aftermaths of years of abuse to find something in himself worth loving. They work well together, I liked it! Though their attraction went too fast in my opinion. I wish it'd taken a bit more time for Zeus to feel something special. He is established as a commitment-phobe and it is reiterated at the start of the book and 3 pages later he is jealous of Callie kissing someone else. Huh. I just wish it was more of a slow burn, but that's because slow burns are the best fucking thing (and the reason why none of these books will ever truly hit for me, though I love the MB guys).

The plot was ridiculously over the top as usual, with organised crime chasing a random guy and everything, but hey, it is how it is and at least we don't get weird racist subplots anymore, yay!

Love love love the side cast, love the new guy Haz but I have to say I am not looking forward to his potential book with Decaf - I would have loved it if Decaf wasn't old enough to be his dad and I fucking hate age gaps so much. I want Ghost's story! Scout's! I am DESPERATE for Angel's and if people actually loved women, I'd know that one day I'd be reading her book but life sucks and I know that's not happening. But hey, I know myself, and I know that no matter what I say, I'll still read Haz and decaf's goddamn story... and wait for more Mike Bravo content, because I love them.

(I'd add quote to this review, but literally most of the stuff I highlighted were Iris being Iris... and a few of Zeus being Zeus, I guess but mostly Iris... Oops!)

I wanted to love this book so much, and the first half was really fun and promising! I love this series so much as a whole.
I did like Callie for the most part, and Zeus was just okay. But the first two books in the series had such strong characters and stories, but the Zeus and Atlas to a slightly less extreme just fell flat. The characters development seems a little forced in this one. There’s also a third act breakup

I absolutely adore Zeus!!!

Saint and Iris are definitely still my favourite couple in this series, but Zeus and Saint are tied for my favourite character.

There is SO MUCH MORE to Zeus than the character we've seen so far, and he totally stole my heart - to the point where I feel as emotionally attached to him as I do to Saint after what he disclosed about his past. The man has layers and it was so enjoyable seeing them all be revealed.

I also liked the journey Callie goes on throughout the book too, because I really didn't care much for him in Atlas but I feel like he managed to redeem my opinion of him here. It's extremely refreshing to see two characters grow so much and the fact that they do it for themselves not for each other or anyone else was so different to everything I've been reading recently.

There's also the usual OTT shenanigans of the Mike Bravo team, but the relationship between these two kept the focus on their love story, rather than the 'bad guy' and whatever he was up to, which I definitely prefer with a low angst book.

I loved the ending and where these two end up, and I'm now dying with curiosity about who's book is next because I am all for seeing a growly Decaf, but I'd also love to know more about Scout too!

Thank you so much for the ARC Eden Finley!

Loved Zeus and Callie. This was a great redemption story for Callie from Atlas and Lemons story. The characters stay true to themselves while continuing to evolve and grow. Eden has a way to build worlds that you can't help but immerse yourself in! The Mike Bravo guys are no exception. I loved the selfless nature of Zeus when it came to Callie. Even though he was seen as a playboy (and he was) Callie and Zeus were kindred sprints. They understood each other, through tragedy, like nobody else could. As with every Eden Finley story you can expect great witt, banter, action, and low angst! Now I need Decaf and Haz!

Zeus and Callie

PLEASE be aware that this review is meant for my own purposes only in order to help me recall this book and is in no way a reflection of what I think anyone else will like or want out of a book. It is simply a memory aid and a rough voice-to-text which is completely unedited/reviewed for errors. Read at your own discretion.

the book starts out at Atlas and Lemons’s wedding. Soon after, Atlas asks Zeus to track down Callie because Lemon is worried about him. Zeus finds him easily, but Callie freaks out because he thinks Zeus is there to kill him. He goes running to Pierre who is a mob boss in Las Vegas and is immediately pressed into what is essentially prostitution. The need MB recruit, Haz, and Zeus pretend to be highrollers and break Callie out of the casino. Pierre sends his goons after them and they end up in a gunfight in a hotel. They realize that Callie will not be left alone so the Mike bravo guys decide to take out Pierre. In the meantime, Zeus and Callie are starting to develop feelings. The Mike, bravo guys go after Pierre. The first time, Zeus and Haz are detained and tortured. When they bring the whole team in later, they do kill Pierre, but Zeus is shot multiple times and almost dies. After he wakes up from a coma, he and Callie decide to go their separate ways because they both need to stand on their own 2 feet, especially Callie since he has a domestic violence victim. Over the next few months, they both mature, Zeus gets custody of his niece and nephew, and Callie gets a job. Eventually, they find each other and start dating and then fall in love.

Connections: the Mitchell Brothers are mentioned once in passing when a Vegas hockey game lets out.
We meet Haz and there is clearly something between him and Decaf. Decaf tells Callie that has is the son of his best friend who died on a mission. Haz thinks that Decaf killed his father.

Rating: 4/5

for some reason not a fan compared to the other ones. this one was more intense with less humor but in general with the less humor the suspension of disbelief was a lot hard to do which i think made me like it less.
