I appreciated the author’s enthusiasm for his subject. It is very apparent that being a palaeontologist, for him, is truly living the dream. I enjoyed the writing and would recommend this book to anyone interested in dinosaurs.

While I have studied evolutionary biology and geology in university, my knowledge of dinosaurs doesn’t stretch much further than The Land Before Time or the occasional trip to the natural history museum. For this reason, my small brain would have benefited from graphs and illustrations to help me visualize and retain the information. Throw enough “sauruses” at me and they all get jumbled up and I’m no longer sure which creature we’re discussing.

I particularly enjoyed the author’s vivid (almost comical) description of doomsday for the dinosaurs.

The author writes in a way that makes you fall in love with paleontology, a bit too late in life though
