I don't think this book should exist. Fred didn't want a biography. I don't think Fred would have liked how it talked about him and interpreted much about him. The writing was repetitive and I just felt like it wasn't what it should have been if it should have existed at all. I think it should have focused on the children more and the psychology of teaching them as Fred learned and bolstered. It just felt wrong and I can't do it get that across. Maybe it's just me. But I don't like it.

I very much enjoyed learning more about such an influential figure. Levar Burton's narration was well done, and the book obviously very well researched.

This is one of the best nonfiction books I've ever read. Of course, it may be nostalgia or just the high respect I have for Mr. Rogers - but King does a good job at presenting his life interwoven with interviews and thoughts about the work that Mr. Rogers and his team were able to accomplish. A fantastic read!

We need more Mr. Rogers today.

DNF 45% Maxwell King excels at taking what could’ve been a very interesting biography and making it a total snooze fest.

To be honest, I got bored hahahahaah it’s an inspiring book but I think I got everything I needed to know about Mr Rogers through documentaries.

Fred Rogers, in my mind, will forever be a 5 star human. With that being said - this book was incredibly long-winded. At one point, I thought I might be reading a Jim Henson biography. Each person in Roger’s life was given (what felt like) a chapter to detail their own struggles and successes, and information was repeated over and over throughout the book. It’s clear, however, that Mr. Rogers was an incredible person, and I’m glad to have learned more about him.

I really really enjoyed this book. This was such an interesting looking into Fred Rogers. I grew up watching Mr. Rogers Neighborhood so it was nice to learn a bit more about this man who took up much of my childhood. This book left my feeling happy. I am so glad I decided to take the time to read this.
