I tried to read this, but it just felt so tedious. Fred Rogers was a very interesting person, and I was looking forward to this book. But, it fell flat and I couldn't finish it.

One of my favorite people. An excellent biography very, very thorough.

I personally did not grow up watching Mister Rogers Neighborhood but I appreciate his story. His enthusiasm and perseverance of better understanding and improving how children interpret what they see on television is quite fascinating. He truly was a pioneer and it makes me appreciate the shows i watched growing up that were inspired by his work. I really enjoyed reading about the beginnings of the neighborhood. It was very interesting and it helped me get a clearly picture of the man behind the screen.

However, I was very disappointed with how this book was written. I was very bored reading some of the chapters and it is quite unfortunate; since Fred Rogers had quite an interesting life. The chapters, I felt, were way too drawn out and the information was very repetitive. Some of the details noted, although interesting, could’ve been left out. It didn’t have a huge impact on the overall story.

A master class on two things I'm passionate about: early childhood education and leadership. Audio book with Levar Burton is wonderful.
