Kinda spoilery:
Unbelievably infuriating ending to what I thought would just end up being a boring read. I don’t know if the author is just lazy or if she’s truly that ignorant or insensitive when it comes to violence against women. She springs this “twist” on us in the end and then I guess she had to run out for an appt or something and just ends the story with the biggest slap in the face to women. I can’t believe any editor allowed something like SA to basically just be nothing more than a postscript to the story.

Definitely had higher expectations for this one. It kept me interested enough to finish it fast but it was slightly underwhelming. And omg, could we go one paragraph without hearing about breastfeeding?!? I fully support it but like why was it brought up sooooo much in this book?!? Okay that is all.

This book was neither good nor bad in my opinion, it just was. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narrator quite a bit so I’m not sure how I would’ve felt about reading a physical book. I just felt like there wasn’t enough done for me to care about any of the characters. The mystery was a little confusing at times and had a weird conclusion. The ending also takes a weird turn into something that I’m not sure was necessary?

A frustrating book full of frustrating characters making frustrating decisions. Everyone omits things that they know because they think it'll upset the main character, Janie, only for it to upset her even more when she eventually (inevitably) learns the truth. Janie blatantly lies to the police and wastes their time, conducts her own investigation despite being warned not to, and comes to the wrong conclusion about 3 times.
One of my pet peeves also makes an appearance: in the first half of the book, Janie keeps thinking about "the incident" at her old workplace that led to her resigning, but keeps it deliberately vague so she can drop it on us later. The revelation that she cheated on Max is ultimately 'redeemed' at the end of the book when she remembers that it wasn't consensual and that she was in actual fact raped.
The sentence structure really bothered me for some reason, probably more than any other book I've ever read. The whole book is full of these really long run-on sentences with really awkward tenses that chop and change over and over.

Such a good captivating thriller! Absolutely pulled in from the first page. If you're looking for a book that you can't put down until you know how it ends, you found it. A who-dunnit murder mystery.

i liked it. didn’t get boring and wasn’t too predictable.
