if you've had even some marginal experience in a humanities area of academia AND/OR if you've ever had to write a letter of reference for a student [LOR] than this book might just be fore you.
oh jay fitzger at payne university. i feel your pain. i really do.
what a fun and different approach to a book ms. schumacher.
i had my doubts - a book made up of all one person's letters? a person that isn't even very likeable and has some serious character flaws? but i laughed. a lot. and empathized. a lot. and in the end our engli_h professor wasn't as horrid or egotistical as i had first thought.

Terrible, too realistic and boring. Couldn't finish reading. It's only letters, no narration, hated it.
What a way with language she has! Had me laughing on the train. Very funny look into this world of academia.
I normally don't read funny books, and when I do read them, I seldom find them laugh out loud funny. This was hands down the funniest book (and yet true to life) that I have ever read. It might not be the same if you haven't been in academia -- my husband didn't find it all that funny as I read parts out loud to him.

Might actually be closer to a 4.5, but I honestly can’t tell. Is this light academia? It felt like an inverted version of Dead Poets Society. I could clearly envision many parts of this book in an early-mid 2000s comedy film with dramatic undertones.
An interesting story told through letters of recommendation written by a college professor.
