THE RELIEF AT FINISHING THIS BOOK IS PALPABLE.

I am sorry about picking it for bookclub, everyone. Forgive me.

I know this was written in the 1800s but good lord did I find this a hard slog. So much repeated text, so many looooooooong talks about God and Providence, while skipping over the bits that would have been exciting to read.

Sticking to the new kids from now on.

switched to abridged audiobook 50 pages in. tedious and monotonous accounts with narcissistic religious rhetoric.

I read this to annotate is as a friends gift.
It's cute

thank fuck that's over. this man really just does not shut up about bread.

ya tendrĂa que estar borracha para darle a esto cinco estrellas

If you can get past the religious brainwashing and the obnoxious attitude of Crusoe you might actually enjoy this, while treating it as an entertaining survival story or one man's spiritual journey. I would personally be more interested in analysing the colonialist aspect and the treatment of other nations during Defoe's time instead of trying not to fall asleep while reading. Great source material for essays and such but the pamflet style didn't hit me that well.

This was the most tedious and painful book I have ever read. Would have been better if he'd drowned
