I would like to give myself kudos to finishing this book (technically I skim read through the last 8 chapters, but still I suffered through the first half)

Spoiler

The book starts off with the prologue and the first encounter we get with the fmc and mmc is

“A strong hand warps around my throat and pushes me against the wall.

“W-what are you doing?” He leans forward so his mouth hovers inches away from mine and growls. “I will destroy you.”

Uhh? Hello? Are we okay?? Girly just literally got there and this guy is already promising to make her life a living hell. Sir, let's get a grip please. It's high school, it's truly not that deep.

You said you’ll report me for sexual harassment.”
“W-what… ?”
“It’s your lucky day. I’m making the report come true.”

I won’t bother finishing the quote because it makes my stomach hurt thinking about what happens next. *laughs nervously* Also, spoiler alert: she never reported him for harassment and he just kept doing it and she still fell in love with him. At least she had the self awareness to question what was wrong with her that she fell in love with him. Baby steps, I suppose.

I really have to stop hyping up books in my head that come from Booktok, don’t get me wrong some of those recs have been 5 stars or 4 stars but some have had me question my life choices. This is one of those moments.

For a while I was enjoying the book, but then at some point my mind checked out because it was just a constant back and forth. Does she like him? Does she hate him? The world may never know. I was just over it. I needed to end my misery. I could not connect with Aiden and Elsa — they had the chemistry of a piece of burnt toast. They were constantly fighting or having cringe, make my stomach hurt from reading, sex. (I did skim read through those parts because again, it gave me the ick)

Don’t ask me why I bothered finishing this book, I really couldn’t tell you why. The nosey part of me wanted to know what the fuck was Aiden’s problem while the other part of me thought “you’ve made it this far, might as well commit at this point” and that’s my fault.

Hmmm

Don’t really know how I feel about this one. It toes the line sometimes, and other times goes right over. But I have read some books where the line doesn’t exist at all, and this one does seem to have some. Will still read the next one though. Rina Kent can make some truly complex and out of the box characters. And she did warn that he wasn’t a hero.

Look if you wanna read a fucked up book where main male love interest threaten, sexual assaults, physically assaults, rapes, and emotional manipulates the main character who has this “mysterious” background that she doesn’t remember then by all means this is your book.

This isn’t a “bully” romance book, hell isn’t not even an Enemies to Lovers. It’s just straight up just a non-con

Trigger warning:
The mmc sexually assault the wmc not even 5% into the story and when she threatened to report him, he said and I quote :
"It's your lucky day, I'm making the report come true".
I was having high hopes for Aiden's book to deliver but it left me disappointed.
