Amie Kaufman and Megan Spooner keep the adventure going with this finale of their UNEARTHED duology. The stakes are higher than ever, the lingering dread even more intense, and the characters just as endearing and heart-warming as ever. I am very satisfied with the finale, which wrapped things up fairly quickly and left open space for plenty other adventures.
The story moved at the same, brisk pace as the previous instalment, following the intrepid duo as they battle aliens, make daring escapes, overcoming inner turmoil. I truly fell in love with Jules and Mia and am sad their story has ended (for now). Both are uniquely different yet so complimentary. I love their chemistry and their belief in each other as they face dangers no teenager should face. Their romance is endearing and always makes me smile.
The twists were exciting and unsuspected and added to some great lore and development for new characters. I would have loved to spend a little more time with a couple characters introduced at the end, but the book wrapped up before then. Still, it was a perfect ending to a fun, adventure filled series great for anyone looking for an entertaining read!

Once again, I just had a fun time reading this book. I’ve enjoyed all of Amie Kaufman’s YA space stories, and this kept me enthralled. It’s fairly clean reading, too, which is always welcome.

Oop big spoilers
About 30 pages before the end of the book I was so scared that it was gonna end on a cliffhanger again bc it didn’t seem like there was enough time to wrap it all up, but I think it actually ended really nicely. Also if Jules died I was about to break something and it’s 4am currently so that would not be good.
(Yes I’m reading at 4am I couldn’t fall back asleep get off my dick)
Also I’m sure there’s probably some problems in the fiction part of the science if I wanted to look for them, but I’ll just go along with it bc portals that can move things through space and time are super cool.
Also the whole origin of the Undying was really cool and totally in character for the dumb species known as humans, like humans are so petty and hate other humans so much like for sure we’d try and take our own planet from us.
Also props to the authors for that one German lesbian couple, I see you, that was super adorable. Also Neal and Dex are super cute and I love them.
Also every paragraph here starts with also and just my writing skills are A++, thanks Mr. Seick. Oh boy now that’s bothering me but I don’t feel like changing it so..
