The entire premise of space archaeology is somewhat absurd as YA rather than adult. My kingdom for an advanced degree! Watching your dad do research in the living room is just not the same as studying/researching yourself. I would find this story so much more compelling if they were in their 30s rather than 17. But this is a YA story and honestly it's done reasonably well. The ending felt tied up too neatly, but it was a fun ride.

I'm a sap. I cried. I always cry. I did guess the twist a bit before it was revealed, I still enjoyed the fast paced, whirlwind that this conclusion was. There were no slow breather bits to let you catch your breath. Solid conclusion to the duology!

Rethrough #2: via Audiobook. Still...lovely, lovely Steve West. I could listen to him pretty much ALLLLLLLLLL day.

While not as good as the first, this was an amazing conclusion to the duology. Mia and Jules are an amazing team and I loved the addition of Neal to round out this trio.

That ending! AH! I about died.

This was a solid sequel! (Finale? It's all wrapped up but there's lots of potential for them to do more if they want.) Lots of really great quotes and a powerful message to take home. I still love our MC's and the plot is nicely layered with little reveals throughout so you never get bored. I really loved the "Indiana Jones" feel of the first and this one is missing some of that due to the new setting, however it was still really fun. I am learning to love this writing duo.

I know a lot of people are disappointed by this as a sequel, and I can see where they're coming from... But I for one really loved the direction change. It made sense to me that the story had the grow somewhere, but it was a lot more geopolitical than tomb raider, and so I can see why given the high octane finish of Unearthed it would've seemed a bit of a let down.
But trust me, there was still action and adventure! And we get to spend time in Prague, which is always a win for me!

I did that thing that I know I shouldn't do, where I read the first book and enjoyed it a lot and immediately added the sequel to my TBR... and then I finally pick it up five whole years later. I didn't remember the first one super well, I just read a few reviews with spoilers to jog my brain, and then dove in. I listened to the audiobook version checked out from my library, and listened to the full book over just two days.

I didn't enjoy this quite as much as the first one. I love the authors' writing so much, and want to read everything they write. So although I liked this one less, it was still a very enjoyable ride over all. This book had so much running and escaping and hiding and escaping and running, that my mind would drift occasionally while listening. And the explanation on the undying was perhaps overcomplicated and hard to grasp for me. But overall I am glad I finally concluded this duology.
