So, the rating is purely because it's exactly what I would want to happen to me if I was in a fantasy world. Like for real, The Raven is ...

I seriously cannot stop giggling while reading this because their relationship is just so perfect.

I love it.

Loved it! The main character is bodyguard to a princess and entrusted with finding out if the kingdom the princess is betrothed into is trustworthy. Immediately upon arrival there in disguise as the princess things start getting weird and she has to uncover the plot. The guard/assassin set to watch her is a mysterious voiceless masked man. In uncovering the truth about the kings intentions she grows to know and respect the guard/assassin even though he has to eventually hunt her down with unexpected consequences.

I absolutely love Kenley's books and her writing style. (Read Traitor's Masque if you haven't yet!) Her stories are unique and very fun. Though I only "liked" this story instead of "loved" it because of two things:
1. I felt like the last 20% of the book should have been expanded some. Maybe I just like savoring character and plot development and no one else thinks this. But the stakes of the story raised only after I had read 80% of the book. It's a short read (271 pages) and I felt like once enough 'setting the stage' had happened and the story really started moving, it was suddenly over. (That doesn't mean the book wasn't good though--the story kept a very good pace--I just wish it had been longer overall, it went too quickly for me.) The good news is that this isn't a stand alone story and the next book is coming out in January, but I do wish we had gotten to see more character development/worldbuilding with the prince and other characters at the castle.
2. The romantic interest felt a little contrived and maybe rushed? Which ties into how short the events felt to me. I understand that there's only so much you can do with so many words, especially when you have to develop other important parts of the book too.
All that said, I loved Leisa's backstory, her character, and her abilities and I am excited to see her interactions and growth in the next book and learn more about Kyrion. He's pretty cool, too.

fantasy fluff. 3.0 stars

I had mixed opinions about this.

At one point I felt that the book had a really weird pacing which neither seemed too fast nor too slow but not in a good way but then there were other things by the end which made me want to finish the book as soon as possible because it intrigued me so much. Nonetheless, it was a good book and I'm excited to read the next!

Surprisingly good. The start was kinda confusing and the end was a bad cliffhanger.

Me enamore. Maldición, me volví a enamorar.
Es que no tengo palabras para explicar lo mucho que me atrapó este libro, creo que compite directamente con los libros favoritos de mi vida y eso es decir mucho.
Uff, los protagonistas
