This is more of a practical companion with handy illustrations to [b:The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing|22318578|The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing|Marie Kondō|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1418767178s/22318578.jpg|41711738]. There was not much that was new in this book, but I liked the specific detail [a:Marie Kondō|5589647|Marie Kondō|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1451520607p2/5589647.jpg] goes into for each type of item. I would not recommend starting with this book though!

I didn't find that this book added all that much to Kondo's first book. It was a short, pleasant read, and had some good ideas. If you are already converted by Kondo's Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up, you may enjoy reading this book to encourage you along the way.

I read this shortly after reading The Life-changing Magic of Tidying Up, and was thankful for the drawings depicting the folding and storage tactics she recommends. It goes more in depth into how to break the larger categories of the KonMarie tidying method into sub-groups, and shared good tips for storage and cleaning of specific rooms (kitchen, bathroom, etc.).
informative

I really loved Marie's gentleness and the sanctity she gave to all of the pedestrian parts of life. I'll likely re-read as I work through my home, so I'll see if I like it as well when I put it into practice.

This lady is quite possibly insane. I'm pretty certain my socks don't feel exhausted from being rolled into balls & my tshirts don't have opinions on the colour gradient they are stored in. That said, I did come away feeling motivated to declutter my house ...

If you read Kondo's first book and were left feeling it was unrealistic and not detailed enough for the real world, this more detailed and illustrated version will help. It goes through all the major areas of clutter and details how to work through them, along with diagrams for folding clothing and storing other items.

I'm still not sure this is a method that works for all items, but this book does at least shed more light on how it might.

Goes into much more detail on the different categories compared to Marie Kondo's first book, and really dives into the folding technique that Marie recommends.

A very helpful companion to The Life Changing Magic of tidying up, with adorable and easy-to-follow illustrations.

DID NOT FINISH: 14%

I got this at a charity shop to give me a decluttering boost in the new year but while reading, I realised it didn't really teach me anything new compared to the first book. It's good, but I don't need it.
