This had so many factors which I love in a book:
-Irish lit
-farming background
-coming of age
-slight magical realism, but not hugely invasive.

Ultimately though, it felt like too neat an ending, and there wasn’t enough depth to any of the characters for them to really stick with me.

This was really lovely. I love weird Irish women and books about them, and I love that it took things like prophetic dreams and divining seriously in the context of Irish culture. The characters feel very real and it portrayed Irish countryside society very well. Also I think it was just very Real like she doesn’t hold back and gloss over everything she describes things exactly how they are even if it’s TMI or disgusting, which I like. Overall very nice and good I think.
