Going on vibes for this review as the story is well summarized in the blurb already. A captivating story, I enjoyed the dual timeline/flashback style as that propelled the suspenseful plot... there really was no slow points with such a robust historical topic. I felt empathy and sadness, and I also found myself rooting for Lena too. The prose was well written and captivating—amplifying the strong character arcs and growth. A powerful yet beautiful story.

3.5 stars. I thought it was really intriguing and a different story than the usual WWII historical fictions we get. But there was too much going on, some side stories felt unnecessary and overly dramatic. Would still recommend, just wasn’t as good as I hoped.
This book was so good! For me historical fiction is kind of hit and miss so I approached it with caution but I am so glad I picked it up. This story is so well written and you are quickly pulled into the world of Bina. You feel all the feels with this book. Bina's courage, her heartbreaks, sacrifice, love and sadness. Highly recommend it!

Goddess is the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and it's aftermath driven by a sexy superstar. That sells books but I found it weird and shallow. The sex scenes, sex slavery, rapes and multiple lovers feel out of proportion, designed for marketing goals. There are a lot of plot contrivances, such as the poison through the cork episode. There are emotional themes such as the hate/revenge vs. love/family outcome near the end. (Bina's warrior approach is fully appropriate. )
I am left wondering and Googling it's historical accuracy, especially the scenes based in the US. I don't know anything about Nazi scientists and engineers smuggled into the US after the War. Similarly, I am uninformed on a serious fourth Reich resistance based in the US. Is there any reality basis for the film Goddess especially the finale?
I understand that historical fiction takes a leap of imagination and can be built on composite characters and events. But "Goddess" vaults into "best seller quality" romance.
