I shouldn't have finished this one after the first few pages made me uncomfortable with a detailed description of how Bina is in lusting after her brother-in-law when her husband is right there with them. That is a recurring theme through the whole story. Not only was that off-putting, but the rest of the plot felt implausible and left me disliking Bina, especially when everything goes her way and she gets what she's always wanted at the end.

While much of this was well done from a literary/thrilling point of view and artistically highlighted the painful realities of the Warsaw Ghetto (and operation paper clip and some other aspects of WW2), it was also a bit over the top melodramatic. I do expect there to be some coincidental bits and changes for the sake of the plot, but this felt over sensationalized to the point of losing the impact of the story. Though the poetic irony and justice did pay off.

The epilogue felt weird. As did some of the tying of loose ends. Lots of elements in the epilogue I just wish didn’t happen. Actually, scrap the entire epilogue. I never hate epilogues but this one really turned me :(
