Didn’t love this one as much as others in the series, but it is still a phenomenal book. The plot was a little convoluted this time, but the characters remain the heart of the story. I will go anywhere with Gamache and Beauvoir.

In the audiobook it was sometimes difficult to tell when the narrative moved between past and present storylines within a chapter.
Graphic: Addiction, Drug abuse, Gun violence, Suicide, Blood, and Murder
Moderate: Alcohol

Don't like time jumps
A police department head doing what he did is
Pure fantasy
Ok I cried @ the end
But the slow reveal was too muddled by the time jumps(who was where and when)
Sure there's a plot hole in there on the villains location\time

A solid read and great pacing but the part of the plot about how crime is on the rise and practically unstoppable just annoyed me so much because that's just not true and there's no need to fuel sensationalism
