This is certainly an early King writing. You can quickly see how his witting here in this story is different from his 21st century writing. Despite this book now being out of print, at the order of King himself due to the number of school shootings that had connections to this book it is still a rather interesting read overall. Personally I did find this story hard to get through, the narrative was slightly hard to follow and the I found the school kinds fairly unbelievable. In particular the part where one of the classmates goes to the bathroom. Certainly not Kings best work, but we must remember that he was just a High School student at the time of writing this. So he deserves credit for being able to craft such a story at such a young age. If you happen to find a used copy of Rage someplace and for any King fan it would be a must read to see how King's writing as developed over time.

Edgelord book. Not King’s best work by far. Maybe my takeaway from it is just a symptom of the times we live in now compared to when the book was originally published. It’s a good thing that this is out of print.
