I've been familiar with Dr. Greger's work before reading this book, and I enjoy his explanations. I trust the facts he relays and his sources. This book is a wealth of information, and offers many, accessible and easy, little tips to improve your health right now. As I was listening to this audiobook, I started checking off items on the daily dozen app, and adding in foods/ taking out others as per his suggestions. It is wonderful to have some tangible ways of improving your health, that are founded in science. Dr. Greger also often weighs pros and cons and does not neglect to mention when a certain group of people might experience more harm from a certain remedy. While providing natural, food-based ways of improving health and fighting disease, Dr. Greger never suggests to just quit your meds. Everything is evidence-based, he provides his reasoning and always tells you to check with your physician. I appreciate that.
Some negative points about the book: It is US-centered. As a European citizen, some passages were not relevant to me directly (e.g. the health industry and insurance topics are radically different), but that does not distract from the value of the information presented. I also think the book could have done without the anecdotes of former patients/ readers, but I understand why they may be added in. The book is extremely long, and had I not listened to it as an audiobook, I dont think I would have gone through it in one go. Of course, it might be best to buy the physical book so you can take notes, add post it notes and look up specific topics whenever you need to, so I dont think the audiobook was the best choice here.
I see myself recommending this book to everybody, and I've been trying to convince my loved ones to implement things like turmeric into their diets.
