It's a good palate cleanser book. Like on its own, i don't think i would have liked it, but reading it after All The Pretty Horses, Carrie, and This Cursed House, all of which are on the heavier side, it was kind of like just letting my brain stop processing things for a bit. It was alright, i just read it at the right time to not be bothered by the things in this book that usually would have bothered me. It's easy and smooth, which is what i needed right now, but it feels like there's no conflict, and the cuaracters don't have personalities so much as they have quirks.

I am such a sucker for a found family story. This was a cute read, got through it pretty quickly and it saved me from a reading slump.

One of the most heartfelt books I’ve ever read!

I loved every single moment of this beautiful book. There were parts that made me laugh and parts that made me cry! This book made me so emotional! I’ll be recommending it to all my friends!

I didn’t love this book as I expected to, I think it suffered from branding and what it was supposed to focus on. There were a couple of references to how the magic worked but then was completely ditched for the sake of the half baked romance at the end. I would’ve loved to learn more about the girls backstory and how they learn to control their magic. I also didn’t like how Jamie was written to be so one dimensional and was solely characterized by him grumpy personality and not much else.

I’m giving it a two because I did somewhat enjoy the events towards the end but it took so long to get there and I considered DNFing it at many points if this wasn’t required reading for a StoryGraph Challenge
