I’m not sure how any story on my TBR could follow this. It has magic, found family, funny kids, a scowling love interest, a meddling grandpa figure, emotional turmoil, high stakes…. Literally so good.
I wish I could articulate more but I’m not sure how or why this struck so hard with me. Maybe it’s bc found family is my kryptonite, or as a nosey person I relate to Ian so hard, or maybe as someone who struggles to accept others love like Mika…
On a practical note, I loved that the magic of was its own character. I also appreciated the emphasis on practicing and taking time to master the craft. It irks me reading stories that where they suddenly just ~know~ how to be witches!! Like no way is that possible!!! Anyway…. Personal grudge.
This is a book I will re read every few years to revisit their world. 10/10 recommend.

After the emotional trauma Jade Legacy left me with, I was in need of something light-hearted and cosy. Low and behold, that's exactly what this turned out to be, so I'm satisfied. Also a pleasabt way to start Autumn off.
I actually quite liked the lore of these witches. Nothing was overly explained, and there was always just enough mystery in the magic to maintain the whimsical vibes.
Speaking of whimsy, these characters were rather adorable. Ian made me smile multiple times, and his relationship with Ken is dead sweat. I enjoyed Mika as a main character too. I liked how she already had a lot of spells in her arsenal and instead of learning more, was teaching the girl witches.
Its all very cute and charming and then it hit me. This is definitely a romance book. And the love interest - Jamie - kinda sucked. Other than him constantly being called attractive and knowing that Mika was a witch, idk what he had going for him tbh. This stern and serious character that finally cracks a smile so it must be love i guess 🤷♂️ Also He's always about the girls the girls whats best for the girls but then ....he's more than happy to leave them for all of Christmas day so he can fuck Mika... Hmmmm Whats that all about?
A lot of the plot points were very predictable but I kind of enjoyed that. Like I said, I just wanted something easy and light as a nice pallete cleanser and mission complete.

I didn’t find it as cozy as everyone claims it to be. While there were some cute, heartfelt moments, they were ruined for me by the quirky and sexual comments that seemed to come out of nowhere. It felt like reading a Wattpad story with forced “spicy” moments—awkward and completely unnatural.
