A Retelling of a Southern Hades and Persephone

Ok so Living in Greece Since i was 10 i adore all things Greek Mythology - And i adore anything Southern -i will visit the states one day go there and eat Grits and Cold Ice Tea!!!! So place them together and its like Strawberry ice cream with extra sprinkles!!!!

We Get introduced to Paige as she is attending her Cotillion, Although her one ask was that it be set in the towns most lucrative Nightclub - there she meets its owner Hayes who is her ultimate chocolate fudge!

I loved Hayes and Paige together - the small references that were nods to the Greek myth were beautifully placed - The story itself from the Parents to the couple was brilliant and again entangled with a fresh spin on the Myth it was very clever.

My only small Quibble was How Paige seemed to roll over time and time again for her Parents, But Hayes couldn't get a word in when stuff erupted.... Considering they are married and she and their possible future children still have it as their legacy..... I was a bit confused why she was so upset...

Im definitely reading book 2 to find out the conclusion for these two lovebirds!!!!

This is my first read by Ms. Hale. The blurb to The Bourbon Bride caught my attention and I really wanted to read it. And I’m so happy I did because I just discovered an author who is amazing.
Paige is such a sweetheart. Born and raised in Savannah she is a true Southern Belle.
I loved her charm and her witty. Her comebacks are absolutely awesome
While she’s sweet and innocent. I liked that she wasn’t really a doormat.
Yes she tries to always please her parents but when push came to shove she stood up for herself.
Hayes is a man right up my alley. Successful, sexy and a bit on the somewhat morally grey side.
He’s a dirty talker in the bedroom. And a negotiator in the boardroom.
These two together are an absolute delight!
Their banter and their flirty was entertaining and kept things refreshing.
I loved that Paige and Hayes were a perfect match for each other.
Even with the age difference and the differences with life experiences they were the missing pieces to each other.
I appreciated how Paige was light a bright light to Hayes’ bit of dark
She’s an open book and he’s a mystery.
But they complement each other perfectly.
The chemistry going on was absolutely hot and dynamic.
And when they finally relent to their desires it’s sizzling hot and sexy as hell.
But not all is as it seems to be with them.
And when secrets and underlying intentions come to light things are about to explode.

"I'm the guy who would beat up the prince for being a little pussy. I'd rather get my hands dirty on the battlefield. I'm not afraid to do the hard things, whatever they may be."
"A morally gray knight, then. That works for me, since I'm no princess."

Am I looking forward to The Bourbon Bargain, you better believe I am!

Not compelling, little chemistry and relationship building between MCs

3.75 ⭐️
Maybe I read too many romance books, but this one just didn't stand out to me.
Sure, the characters had some depth and I loved the dog, but I basically knew when there's foreshadowing and was expecting the MMC to fuck it up from the starting when I knew his motives.
It's not much of a plot twist.

I really liked how adorable their relationship was.
My favourite part was when
SpoilerHayes proposed with a handwritten poem tied around Cerberus's neck.
That was so damn sweet!

I received an ARC for this book and am leaving an honest review.

I have yet to read anything by the author, and I am so glad I got this opputunity from Sunny Babe PR!!
Hayes and Paige's story hooked me instantly, and I could not stop once I started and the cliff hanger had me running to the second book, I didn't know it was a duet, I wanted to make sure I just saw the tropes and that was it. I didnt relize it was a retelling of Hades and Persephone, and honestly took me a second cause I wasn't expecting it lol. But the play on all the names starting with the god/goddesses name I loved so much!! I thought it was very clever. I honestly can't wait to dive into book two, may or may not be half way done, the worlds may never know...I am lol. I can't wait to read more from this author!!

Excuse me while I fucking R U N to book two!

First off, fuck Caroline! I wanted to shake some common sense into her and put a damn heart where her spinny black vortex is!

And Hayessss! The calmest of three brothers and somehow managed to gain the heart of Paige!

Now if y’all will excuse me, I need to see how this ends!

I was really excited for this book, and then it all went downhill.

I hated the way the Hades x Persephone retelling was done, making Hades the villain, and Persephone the innocent virgin. I hated the age gap trope in this, because it felt more dad daughter than anything else. The dialogues were cringy, and most of the scenes also felt like that. It had so much potential to be an amazing book, but it wasn't. Really wasn't. The characters weren't written well either. They had no real depth about them, and everything moved way too fast. I mean, within a week they're in love and married? Who falls in love in a week? And within a week, a person goes from wanting to ruin a family to just wanting to make them happy and stuff? No. It did not work.

I had so much of expectations, and the book did not deliver.

Paige Fairchild - a controlled heiress. Hayes Olsen - a billionaire, a dream manipulator. Paige meets Hayes Olsen on an off-chance. She's completely taken by how giving Hayes is. No one has ever stopped their agendas to consider what she wants. But, Hayes? He gives her solace, protection, freedom & most of all, gifts her the belief that someone can spare her a choice. She can be the director of hers and live it to the fullest.

In turn, Paige makes Hayes believe that he can also have a chance at a life where he is seen; not for his legacy, not for his future prospects, not for the dreams he has broken to build his own but, for HIM. The more time he spends with her, the more he learns to savor the flavor of life! He discovers the pleasure of slowing down.

Although, can a dream you are working to make a reality be ever put at rest, despite the damage? Suddenly, their off-chance of happiness moves further away, when ambition takes over. Will they find each other again? Or there's more pain and harsh trials awaiting?
