This book was flat for me. The characters, the story, the world. Nothing felt compelling and it was difficult to stay engaged.

I just don't care. I thought it was a reading slump at first, but absolutely nothing about this book has caught my attention and I'm not going to force myself to read a book i don't care about. Which is a shame because I've loved everything she's written that I'v  read. I just can't do this.

I love the broken earth trilogy more than life and came to this wanting more N.K. Jemisin, but this is very different world building-wise and I wasn’t as immediately engaged as I was for her other novels.

Priest/shamans who collect dying people's dreams fight corruption at the highest level. Interesting story, didn't really feel for the characters which is par for the course for this author.
