Reread

Fun and relentlessly enticing

Everyone of these books in the series is unique and different from the last. This was the most fun though by far. In the first two you meet the separate Voilet's then they come crashing together in Shadow's Due. Between the Fatales and grandpa Zagan I laughed so hard.

Probably need to explain. This story was heartbreaking at times but also so much fun. I pictured Zagan as this grumpy old man who hates life and the sun and anything fun. And in contrast there's Voilet young, dancing and giggling while she runs open arms thru a field of flowers. It was hilarious. And come on, the Fatales with their flame throwers, rocket launchers and crude innuendos. Really this book was the whole package. I fell in love all over again.

Of course the author did an amazing job with a steady flow of world building. The atmosphere kept that dark miasma. And oh the music. I still have a playlist of all the songs mentioned steadily going thru them leaving my heart wild and wanting. Florence + The Machine- Howl is the best songs for fight scenes just so you know. And I swear I have to play Sohodolls- Stipper and Le Disko- Shiny toy guns every time the Fatales shows up.

I was surprised to find this book had an Alice in Wonderland type feel sometimes. Many crazy happenings that just felt right even though chaotic. It should be no surprise but often a sequels do not meet expectations. These ones kept surprising me, kept building the world and my love for the series. I don't want to get my hopes up but I really need book 4 to follow through or the darkness might set in and we all know how that goes.

Even though again Zagan's story is painfully heartbreaking reading made me so giddy at times. Voilet and Zagan complimented each other veey well. I knew she was sneaky but omg that exaggerated wince and grabbing her calf. This is why I love this book with a craze that scares me. Though now that I think about it, it would be nice to know more about the Angela's history and abilities. This seires is seriously 5 stars all the way for me because I get so lost in them but I would like more explained in the future. Maybe in Maxim's story. Oh I hope Hellion (Dragon shifter) gets his own book too. Please oh please oh please.

“Goddamnit, Lilly . . . I’m in.”

“You know those overgrown barbie dolls suckered me into stealing from a dragon with them? Oh! But that’s not even the worst of it. You would not believe their house! You’d think a pack of posh alcoholic hyenas lived in that place.”

Zagan took another retreating step. He was going to slip away. “I’m still hungry,” I blurted. “I think I’m going to have one more apple.” I glanced at the dining room. Then I gave a melodramatic sigh. “But I don’t know, they’re so far away. Maybe not.”

“Stop stabbing me, woman!” he bellowed.

“You’re about to get yourself murdered. He hasn’t completed his anger management training yet.”

“Then I will require the ability to walk. If you keep this up, it will be impossible. Now remove yourself from my hidey-hole.”

He marched all the way into my bedroom and pointed to the bed. “Get in,” he snapped at me. Trying my best to give him a break and be agreeable, I hopped into the bed and sat against the wall. Zagan ticked his finger to the side. “The things,” he said. I pulled the duvet away and tossed the pillow aside. Zagan eyed the empty spot on the bed as if summoning all his strength and then sat, swinging his feet up.

Amazing series!

This is probably the best find I’ve found on Kindle Unlimited. I absolutely love this series. Hart writes so vividly and the story is amazing! I’m so sad that there’s only one more in the series!
