First things first: I am going to write two reviews for this! This is my spoiler-free one.

YOU is a compelling read, but certainly not the most compelling one I have ever encountered. Joe Goldberg is a very well-written narcissistic sociopath (as one would imagine!), and the back-and-forth beteeen ‘good’/happy times to ‘bad’/painful times kept the entire pacing of the book feel comfortable and anticipatory. I started this book around 9:30 at night on April 8th and stayed up until 3 AM to read all 400+ pages, and as I do not do that terribly often, I will definitely say this novel kept me /needing/ to know what happened next.
Beck is an excellently written simultaneously protagonist and antagonist, and most of the adversaries Joe faces were well-written enough, or at the very least pretty interesting. I do feel the need to warn younger readers that this book goes very into erotica territory, and make no mistake, this is ABSOLUTELY NOT A ROMANCE.
The ending is unfortunately very, very predictable, and the book could have stood to be about 100-150 pages shorter with nothing lost. Overall, I give this book a 3.75, but I will round up because Kepnes is an author who is not afraid to show the extremely perverse with unflinching honesty, and I love her for that in particular.

I was very invested. Interesting to hear everything from Joe's point of view.

DID NOT FINISH

Just didn’t feel like my thing. Came off super creepy, which is par for the course with a serial killer as the narrator, but I think I expected more of a slower-burn at the start, building up Joe as more of the charismatic, complicated character he is in the Netflix series.

omg !
Joe is sick , and i love it
YOU is the first Thriller book i read,it made me fall in love with this genre .but now the problem is , no book will ever be that good !

The main character is Joe , the hottest villain in the history of my reading . he was written so good that it made me really really scared , i was in his head the entire time ! i couldn't let go of the book , i just wanted to read him and listen to his crazy sick thought forever .
then we have ,Beck : (THE Girl) ,see Joe is the stalker , however caroline kepnes created Beck to make us wonder," is Joe really the bad guy ?" . this girl was sooooo annoying and i hated her with every page , she doesn't know he's a stalker , all she knows is that he's Different , Hot , and he treats her good ,however ,she continues to treat him like shit.

this book opened my eyes to the real danger of social media sites , the effect it can have on our lives , the social media parts (Twitter , facebook , ...etc) were so real and you can really relate to them and be really scared "Is anyone stalking me on my (Instagram , twitter,facebook...etc) right now ?".

finally my favorite part of the book , The books ! Joe worked in a book store , he was so smart and attractive and he talked about books Alot in this book , i love it .

This is it , my new favorite book :)
well done Joe ! may we meet again in Hidden Bodies

for starters: the show is better in so many ways. honestly the book just feels like it’s trying too hard at times. in the show joe came across as this character within a character. i was able to watch his perspective and become completely captivated by it. in the book he’s just some guy with issues that aren’t fully developed. while reading this book i was never committed to it purely cuz it feels like it wasn’t committed to itself.

not awful, just not as good as the show is.
