A fun romp of a book with sometimes insufferably self-aware dialogue. This complaint was well worth enduring for what is otherwise a grounded tale about communities and ecosystems, and our responsibility to both.

Funny, quippy adventure story about a normal guy finding himself working on another planet filled with kaiju. Was it the same tone as Starter Villain? Yes. Was it the trope of new guy coming in and saving the day from skilled experts? Yes. But Wil Wheaton is still an entertaining audiobook narrator.

It's a popcorn book! Very easy read and just dumb fun.

The most Okay book I've read this year. It's fine. It's very much a novel for your geeky boyfriend that doesn't really get into reading. The audiobook is narrated by Will Wheaton. If that's exciting to you, you'll like the book. If that makes you sign and have Ready Player One flashbacks, maybe skip this one.

Good clean light-hearted Kaiju fun. Scalzi always manages to make a believable sci-fi setting (allaying any of those of there, myself included, who can often find themselves stuck in the 'how do they eat / where do they poop' weeds of world-building') and the idea of a inter-dimensional Kaiju sanctuary is a delightful setting for a story about friendship, hope, and perseverance.

this wasn't everything I wanted it to be, but it was still very fun and the writing is so hilarious that it makes me want to read more from a man

I love this!!!

Sadly I don't get to see lots of kaijus but then the way the story unfurled is crystal clear and easy to follow which are super nice.
Not to mention I adore Jamie and his KPS fellow as well as Jamie's housemates, fun and good peopleā€“no unnecessary drama.
