Saint was different than I expected, I won't lie. I honestly figured the storyline would follow more of Saint and Isolde's adventures --> then lead into Fable's childhood. Instead, this prequel surrounds how Saint + Isolde met and I was perfectly okay with that, too! It gave so much interesting backstory on all The Narrows' most essential characters and
[helped connect the dots of West's lineage]
. *I was a bit shook. Did I miss something in Fable and Namesake?

I still think I connected more with Fable, as a reader, versus with Isolde - but enjoyed this installment immensely and reconnecting with The Lark's crew. Young really is a professional at dual POV.

I ma floored at how I wasn't interested in this book. For one there is so much empty space. The main characters have so much empty emotional and personality space. There is no depth. Everything is surface level and left up to whatever you want the characters to be. I really wanted to like Saint but his silence left so much to be desired and Islode is so very forgettable. She has no drive, or ambition outside of running from her momma with a gem that has as much information as the characters. I am shocked even more still that the trading story has so many loop holes and loose interpretations. Idk if I can read the rest of the series but I will try. So far it's a lot of mums the word and no real conversations or character development. I also don't get how Saint and Islode just fall in love. That is weird.
