This was a re-read for me. I wanted to compare it to the new Netflix series. While I liked the show, the book is better. Cole is less hostile and weird while Alex’s storyline makes more sense. It’s weird to me how Mary isn’t a character in the series as she plays such a vital role in the storyline of the boys’ relationship with each other. I find Jackie’s character a little bit hard to understand and like. I think this is intentional though because she is a 15 year old whose world turned upside down. Overall, this is a good YA book & it’s so impressive it was written by such a young author!
Was in love with this story when I was a teenager and it was on wattpad. When the show came out recently it reignited my love for Cole Walter and I had to reread the book. I was disappointed to find out the wattpad version was removed from the app, so I read the published version. I remember the wattpad version being much better, honestly. I was a bit let down with this version due to 50% of the book being wasted on Alex and then a rushed ending.
