Is it bad I liked the show better? I just fell in love with the show and for no reason <3
If I was the target audience, like I once was (many, many years ago), this would’ve gotten a 4-5 star rating. Honestly knowing young me, probably a 5. This book is a throwback to my Wattpad days. I remember watching each chapter being published on the site, and the excitement when the book was turned into a physical book.
I am rating this book a bit more harshly because it’s coming from a 24-year-old who isn’t the target audience. Although older I am now able to appreciate more parts of the book (like the grief or various character interactions), there is just so much teen-ness I cannot relate to anymore for the life of me. It’s the lack of depth in characters (which I mean, hey, unsurprising since they are teens who are so young and stupid and horny) and the kind of drama teens (and immature adults, to be honest) fall into, that makes me cringe. However, for teens, this book will hit all the points one would love (again, I used to love this book when I was younger).
I am curious of the Netflix show adaptation of this book that’ll eventually happen because this book does have so much potential and a lot that can be expanded upon, especially nowadays, that I’d love to give the show a watch.

I try to be careful about giving 5 stars. This one checks all the boxes in my book. I was pulled in from the very beginning and didn’t want it to end!
