If I hadn’t watched the show first I think I would’ve given this one star. It’s not a good book but I do love Cole.

🐴📝 My Life with the Walter Boys 📝🐴
Genre: YA Romance
Series: My Life with the Walter Boys #1
Publisher: Sourcebooks
Rating 4 ⭐️
*2025 Reread Review* I originally read this one Wattpad in my teen years and loved it. I had an obsession with the books of a girl moving into a massive family with many different brothers and from all the ones I read, this one was definitely up there for the best.
Tropes:
• Forced Proximity
• Love Triangle between Brothers
• Grief
• Small Town
•Bad Boy x Good Girl
This one is nostalgic for me. Was it the best book? No. Was the writing great? Not really. Was it cringe at times? A big yes. Do I just love the characters and had a great time reading? Also yes. I just feel like I have known these characters forever and they are like my childhood friends.
First off Team Cole - Just had to put that out there. The love triangle in this series never felt like there was big choice between then two. It always felt like it was Cole but Jackie went after Alex as the safer option. Cole and her just had a deeper connection from the very beginning.
I didn’t feel like we went deep enough into Jackie’s grief. I couldn’t imagine how hard it would be to overcome something like losing your entire family, having to pack up your life and everything you’ve ever known to move across the country with a bunch of strangers, but it felt like it was pushed under the rug and used more as a plot device to get her living with them.
Overall, I feel like these characters and this book will always hold a place in my heart and while I know it isn’t the best book, I will always love it.
I read this book about a week ago and I was too busy to write a review then, so I'm writing one now.
I have had this book on my reading list for a very long time and I got it around two months ago for my birthday. I was reading other books then but I kept coming back to this one. So, I picked it up. I wasn't sure about this book, I mean, I thought it looked great but goodreads had VERY mixed reviews. I mean VERY mixed, there were some people who swear it was a masterpiece and others who said it was the worst book the had ever read in their life. I for one was on the " It was pretty good I quite enjoyed it, the characters were pretty interesting, I would read it again but probably not re buy it unless it was on sale, but overall it was a cute book" side of reviews.
The book is about a girl (Jackie) who comes from a very uptight, rich family. Her parents and sister died in a car accident and she has to go live with her mom's friend and her family. What she didn't know was that her "family" consists of 12 boys (well, technically Parker is a girl but she acts like a boy so... whatever). TWELVE kids! Twelve BOYS! She must learn to live differently and choose between what she thinks is right for her and what she feels is right for her, Cole, Alex, Danny, Lee, Isaac, what to do, what to do.
I'm still not sure how I feel about the ending, it was pretty predictable but took a lot longer than I thought it would. I liked who Jackie ended up with and I like how the family acted (coming from a rather large family myself-though not THAT large- I can sort of relate) I didn't really like Jackie much at all, I'm not sure what it was, I just didn't like her but overall it was a cute book.
I would like to read Ali Novak's other work and I look forward to it.
