❤️❤️❤️
Nothing happens. Nothing noteworthy happens.
I picked this up in a sleepy haze, just trying to read some lighthearted fiction, and didn't really read the book description. I was looking for a summer book, remembered this title and that people seemed to like it. Big mistake, had I read the description I wouldn't even have started. I persevered until 63% hoping that it would pick up again because even at the 40% mark, it still felt like exposition, but it was fine exposition. You know usually things get better after the exposition. But no, suddenly one of the charactersexperiences a seizure and goes to the hospital which is mostly glossed over in a couple pages, and it's back to the increasingly more obnoxious love triangle drama.
There's no real exploration of what the main character is experiencing regarding the loss of her family, just a few mentions so as to remind us, oh yeah right, that happened.
I wondered if I should abide by the sunken cost fallacy and just finish it, but after reading some other reviews, I realize it would be an even grander waste of time, so DNF.
Really, truly, do not recommend.

I forgot I had already read this years ago and realised it halfway through the book.
Then I remembered why I had forgotten about this book. Life was good before reading this.

Meh. I found some parts really icky but probably because I’m older and a mom. Like having so many boys in a house and one girl without watching over them or setting boundaries was strange.

LMAO. So funny. For the type of book it wasn’t bad but omg why did there have to be so many kids. It just made it so we didn’t get to know any of them. And they kept objectifying her and being so awful even tho they all knew her whole family died. Also the dialogue was cheesy and Alex was annoying and cole was just plain rude but somehow they had like crazy healthy communication?!? Every time someone snapped at someone they would immediately apologize and recognize that there were actually upset with something else. Like I wish real life worked like that. Also Jackie’s friends just randomly disappeared and were never mentioned again and they never ever ever would have survived the Bechdel test. Anyways so funny and definitely a hate read but also I will definitely read the next one when it comes out and watch the show!
