This is more a 3.5 book. I loved the author’s atmospheric writing - her small, decaying town, and massive, gothic mansions were very well done. While the narrator/main character was mostly three dimensional, the supporting characters were not and dialogue wasn’t the greatest. Overall, I enjoyed reading this mystery, but I don’t think it will stick with me for long.

I got caught up at first but I had to push to finish this which doesn't say great things for a thriller.
I loved this book. The story is haunting, the prose is BEAUTIFUL, and the mystery keeps you wondering until the end. I appreciated the not everything is wrapped up with a neat little bow in the end. My only criticism is that a few plot points are rushed in the end, but it's still a compelling read.
A little predictable in some spots but overall a well told story that has a wonderfully creepy gothic feel.
I love murder mystery and the writing style of this reminded me a lot of Gillian Flynn, but still missed the mark for me somewhere. I feel like I still have a lot of unanswered questions and provoked thoughts that could have been answered. However, the author did a fabulous job describing the scene and the people who had been touched by Arrowwood and the twin's disappearance. I was not emotionally invested however.
