Absolutely as amazing and enchanting and tragically beautiful as "The Six Deaths of the Saint".

I need to read one of the author's full length novels ASAP!

I’ve read so much dystopian literature this week and I’m loving it… if not deeply disturbed by their relevance to current times. In this short story (recommended by @whatsemilyreadin) by Alix E Harrow, the author once again proves how this format is her speciality! The people in this world return to an “medieval” vibe in the powerful (rich) parts of society. The rest of the people turn into demons, eventually, in the wake of desperate conditions. The piece is about how difficult it is to settle, regulate or heal in the wake of trauma or devastation. To be a version of ourselves both changed, experienced and well — can it happen? Does it need to? I loved this and it moved me to tears more than once.

It's looking more and more like Alix E. Harrow is going to be a favorite author for me. I really enjoyed this and I would have happily have read a full length novel of this.
