At first, this book was hard to get into and understand. But as I continued, it revealed so much! C.S. Lewis explains Christ and Christianity from the basics, so anyone could understand it. He reveals the logic behind it and how people’s lives have changed drastically because of Christ. I definitely recommend this book to anyone asking questions about faith or seeking for more understanding.
lewis has a remarkable gift for metaphor. my favorite aspect about his books is that he has obviously wrestled through some of the more confusing aspects of christianity, and yet retained his hard-won belief that this is the Way, and he must walk in it. knowing the difficulty of that wrestling, he uses his gift for metaphor to attempt to make following Jesus even the smallest bit clearer to the rest of the world. sometimes he succeeds wonderfully, sometimes he doesn't. but almost more valuable than the clarity (or occasional confusion) of his words is the testimony behind them: he believes that Jesus is Lord, over and above any intellectual challenges, and he wants you to believe it too.

It's hard for me to rate this. I don't want to take it down too much for being a product of its time or for personal disagreements, but the (mostly low-level but neverending) sexism throughout was exhausting. I enjoyed the voice throughout and even found it funny in a few places (although I dont think all of it was intended). At the very least, I appreciated it as the carefully-chosen words of a logical and articulate thinker
Moderate: Homophobia, Misogyny, Sexism
Minor: War

The perfect book to read if you are considering your faith in any way shape or form. The analogies were so good and C.S. Lewis addressed doubts I didn't even know I had. Such a beautiful testament to the core of Christianity!

A profound defense of the common faith of Christians, one that helps answer life’s most important questions: What is true? How do we know it is true? How do we live with what we know?

It was alright and not particularly convincing. Some interesting steps taken in thought.
