I once said the end of City of Bones was enough for me to want to continue. It wasn't. I don't even know what to say apart that this was too much even for me. Werewolves run around New York and nobody notices. Yeah.

So I read this first in 7th grade, and for so long, this has been my favorite series of all time.
City of Bones had me captured since the first page. I immediately became connected to the characters who made the story and it being five years since I've read the series, I will never forget what effect the books have had on me.
Cassandra Clare's writing is so beautifully written, and her ability to connect things from The Infernal Devices, to the Mortal Instruments, to the Last Hours, and to The Dark Artifices is incredible to the point that if you finish the series and go back to reread the previous series, you will have that incredible "oh" moment when you make a connection. I highly suggest this series to everyone.

I can totally see why this is a young adult hit....female protagonist who is struggling with identity as she discovers some deep dark family secrets all the while learning that she has some new magical powers. I will definitely put it in my secondary school library collection and will continue buying the series the moment I get a request to do so.

Okay so where to start... I guess I'll start by saying I really enjoyed this book a lot and thought the concept for the plot was really interesting and original. Now I know people would scoff at that and point out all the things that are "borrowed" from Stars Wars and the like (which I will touch on a bit later), but while yes there are some similarities that can't be ignored it doesn't bring the story down. It's still told really well and the overall concept is a new one for me. I enjoyed the new way of thinking about the Nephilim and demons (half and otherwise). The thought of the Fae, Vampires and Werewolves just being offshoots of demons isn't a new concept as far as history in concerned but so few authors actually incorporate that idea into their works.

Now as for the characters. I really enjoyed Clary, Simon and Jace, they're banter back and forth was enough for me to find them easy to read about. They just click. Isabella and Alec I don't really care too much about. Alec got on my nerves with his constant nagging and Isabella is just a snob, I'm sure their is a nice part to her but she just got on my nerves.

I don't want to ruin the book for anyone so I'll warn you now, SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT -> **************

Now on to the similarities to Star Wars and the reason someone told me that this books was "just disgusting".

For those not familiar with Star Wars I suppose you don't need to worry about similarities but for those who have watched it and know basic storyline you're bound to see some connections. (Besides the quote in the book that Simon says.) For instance, the daddy issue. Clary's dad just so happens to be the main evil guy but she doesn't know that until about 85% of the book is done, even though I guessed it pretty early on. So of course she's bound and determined to stop him, even after she finds out. There is also a character named Luke, Lucian actually, but he doesn't parallel the actual Luke. Now the "disgusting" part is what you find out about 90% in. Jace is Clary's...dun dun dun....brother, eeek. Talking about awkward. So yes if you've watch Star Wars you understand that awkward feeling you get when you find out, because Luke and Leia kiss. Well you kind of get that here too. I personally was not "disgusted" by it, sure I am no fan of incest and I find it gross in real life however in fiction it doesn't bother me unless sex and utter disdain for the fact occurs. That does not happen in this book. They start to care about each other, they kiss (twice), some stuff happens, they find out they are related, and then nothing. I'm interested in how they are portrayed in the second book, how they will deal with the tension and whatnot. Besides I'm not going to completely hate a book because of a few similarities and something I don't find out until the end. There are tons of books out there that are almost exact copies of one another, but some are good in their own right.

I would recommend this but sparingly and with a veiled caution before hand.

City Of Glass was perfect. I couldn't have hoped for a better conclusion to the Mortal Instruments series. I have the tendency to figure out important plot-twists in stories extremely early, and a lot of times, it takes away from the experience. However, in this case, even though I figured out so much so early, I was still completely enthralled in this book.

Enjoyed this sequel to City of Bones. It's an interesting world, and the Nephilim are a fun twist on the usual assortment of vampires and werewolves. Clary and Jace are great characters--I'm reading with the assumption that the currently quite creepy squirm-inducing element to their relationship will ultimately be resolved in a non-ooky way.

Clary is a normal fifteen-year-old, she lives in new york, she paints, she listens to teenage music and goes to parties. One night Clary and her best friend Simon go to a club called Pandemonium, and there she sees something she can't unsee. Three teenagers kill a person, but they are not ordinary teenagers, they are Shadowhunters. They kill demons. And more weird things start to happen. Clary's mother gets kidnapped and Clary gets attacked by a big lizard.

I know I should have read this book a long while ago but I've just put it on for so long. And I'm honestly quite disappointed. I've seen both the movie and the series so for starters I've spoiled like the whole book series for myself and secondly, the movie and the series are pretty bad(I hate Clary in the series, the actor does it so poorly)

I read this book in school for my English class, which I think contributed to me not wanting to read it. I just kept putting it off and I have a test about it tomorrow, really good planning I know..

Anyway, I think I will continue reading this series and see where I'll end up, throughout this book, I got so inspired to watch the series again and I think I will.
I liked the way Cassandra wrote this book, I've read a fair amount of good writers in my days and I still liked hers. I would love to see how Jace and Clary's relationship continues on and since there are 6 books in total I wonder how it all will end.

I can't help it--I love these books. They're fluffy, funny, and silly--and I love them.
