I loved this book so much and most especially because this is a dark romance with an actual plot. It did remind me of fifty shades of grey
God of Pain was such an addictive read! From the very beginning, I was pulled into the dynamic between the characters and the way the story unfolded. I really enjoyed the intensity of the romance, the banter, and the chemistry—it kept me turning the pages quickly.
The pacing was solid for most of the book, with plenty of dramatic and emotional moments. I especially liked how the relationships between the characters felt layered, showing both vulnerability and strength. The “pain” aspect of the title definitely lived up to its name in terms of emotional push and pull.

So I have quite a few opinions on this book. It isn’t the first book that I’ve read from the series so I knew that I could get dark, very dark romance but the story took a turn I didn’t expect in the middle.
I had a few wtf moments, a few eye rolls, a few aah cute and a few : sir you need to calm down. I liked the first half, im not one for inflicting pain but they both like it so who am I to judge. SPOILER: a bit over the half of the book, the storyline developed into something I wasn’t expecting. Her parents being the reason his dad is dead was unexpected and a bit far fetched for me but okay whatever… I must admit that her shooting him really surprised me and I honestly felt kind of proud of her. I didn’t want him dead, but I do feel like he forced her into this. I was happy that she chose her brother over him.
Of course I knew that at some point that would be back together but boy did I not enjoy the island part. Him kidnapping her was already a no for him but al the sexual relationships that followed were a big no for me. I just wanted them to have a freaking conversation, so I was happy/ proud of her for stopping him and showing him that she cannot and will not live like that.
Of course it all ended well and good for them for having found each other and loving each other.
This is the third book I finished from the series and I’m seriously considering buying the other ones, especially since we received a few snippets from the other relationships that I still have to discover. Since all those books are about the same friendship groups you got to wonder if there is even just one normal lovey dovey relationship, even with the parents. Always the same dynamic: a man having found his women and claiming that she is his everything and that no one else can have her ( may look cute in the books but a big no no in real life)
