To sum up this book, "Mafia princess" Annika Volkov is not supposed to pursue or be with Creighton King, yet she does so anyway. Initially, he can't stand her, but she is persistent and they enter a sexual relationship. Creigh is very controlling, which seems to be the theme for men in this series, and Annika apparently loves it. Her family finds out of their relationship and shit hits the fan.

There were a handful of sweet moments between these two, such as Creigh telling Annika he would rather die then be without her and him standing up to his family. However, I felt like I was re-reading God of Malice, with some details changed.

The same reason I DNFed God of Malice, so this series is probably not for me.

Creigh & Anni

Having read all the 1st gen books month ago, I was so damn excited when I found out Rina was doing a 2nd gen series. Pre-order and immediately gobble each one up when they are published.
To say that Creigh is intense would be a vast understatement. To say that Creigh is OTT jealous and possessive would also be a vast understandment. There aren't words enough to accurately describe him. He has no shades of grey; just dark, dark black. And I love every damn thing about him.
Anni....if she only knew what was in store
for her. It is crazy to see how they are the perfect catalyst to satisfy those dark monsters that hide inside.
For me, Kill and Glyn have a special place but Creigh and Anni are taking up some major real estate in that space too. Can't help but love those dark, morally black (not even dark grey) men in this series! Can't wait to read the rest!

I will say this one (strictly plot-wise) was far more entertaining than GOM. However in my mind all of these characters are at least late 20s to early 30s because get fucking serious Ms. Kent. Absofuckinglutely no one is this emotionally adept and/or traumatized at 17/18.
